Google appointed Sanjay Gupta as the new country manager and vice president for the business and sales of the company in India. Sanjay Gupta will take over this responsibility early next year. He will work closely with teams from Gurugram, Hyderabad and Bengaluru. According to Google, Gupta will contribute to the company's ongoing efforts to expand the Internet ecosystem in the country, accelerate Internet adoption and innovation among consumers and businesses

 

Gupta was previously associated with Star and Disney India with a career spanning nearly three decades. There he was working as a managing director.He played a key role in bringing traditional television content to digital consumers through Hotstar.

 

He has also been associated with sports business and is credited with the launch of the extremely popular Kabaddi and Football League Pro Kabaddi League and Indian Super League.

 

Apart from this, he has also served in Hindustan Unilever and Bharti Airtel. He led several successful sales and marketing initiatives as the Chief Marketing Officer for the mobile business.
